Tijdsbeeld (Time frame) – Ten years of acquisitions
- 14 January till 10 March 2024
- Drents Museum De Buitenplaats
Since 1996, Museum De Buitenplaats has focused primarily on figurative art. In recent years, however, the museum has evolved into an institution unafraid to push beyond the boundaries of the figurative. The emphasis has increasingly shifted to contemporary drawing, making the current collection a colourful and diverse whole.
Tijdsbeeld (Time Frame) reflects on acquisitions made since 2013 through donations, purchases, and bequests. More than fifty paintings, sculptures and drawings illustrate how the museum’s collection has continually pushed the boundaries of figuration. The exhibition features work by artists such as Richard Bolhuis, Paul van der Eerden, Arno Kramer, Hans Lemmen, Harro Nikkels, Charlotte Schleiffert, Elisabeth Varga and Henk Visch. The upper floor of the museum pavilion is dedicated to artist Wout Muller, based on a special legacy from 2017.
